QUALIFICATIONS OF A CANDIDATE FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALSHIP
- A
practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing with qualities of
spiritual leadership.
(* In order to be a Roman Catholic in good standing, a candidate
must be fully initiated into the Roman Catholic Church having
received the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.
He or she must practice the faith by participating regularly in
Mass and by upholding the teachings of the Church, particularly
its moral teachings. Catholic school principals are expected to
live in a way that would avoid scandal. Those living with a partner
must be in a valid, sacramental marriage.)
- At
least three (3) years of administering or teaching in a Catholic
school.
- A
Masters Degree, preferably with graduate course work in Educational
Administration.
- Demonstrated
leadership ability. Leadership for a principal means that the
candidate must have the ability, enthusiasm and intelligence to
motivate teachers and students. The
candidate must also be able to work with the Office for Education,
clergy, parents, the school community and the public sector.
